A Three Part Plan for Jobs

As a candidate for county commissioner, I believe that the top 3 concerns facing Lucas County are jobs, jobs and jobs. To create more jobs in Lucas County we must do at least three things better.

First, we must create a more favorable business climate by lowering taxes and limiting government. I pledge as your Commissioner that I will not raise taxes without a vote of the taxpayers.

Second, we must do a better job with regional cooperation and promotion. As a suburban resident, I would be a credible voice to expand cooperation between Toledo and the suburbs to cooperatively sell Lucas County to the rest of Ohio, the nation and the world. As your Commissioner, I pledge to work with all local governments, labor and business to promote Lucas County.

Third, as a school board member, I have long understood that quality schools are our best economic development tool. It has worked in Sylvania! As your County Commissioner I would work with our schools to develop a “Grow Our Own” approach, to do a better job teaching our children how to develop and grow their own businesses. This emulates the proverb, if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime. We need to teach our children how to grow their own businesses!

This is not a glitzy or showy plan, just an internal, external and long term approach to our concerns about bringing more jobs to Lucas County.
